John's career started on the fireground as a Firefighter/Paramedic, where he learned what happens when systems fail. He went on to lead Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality for a BESS owner-operator, overseeing safety and quality across a portfolio of energy storage projects from construction through operation. John serves on the NFPA

John's career started on the fireground as a Firefighter/Paramedic, where he learned what happens when systems fail. He went on to lead Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality for a BESS owner-operator, overseeing safety and quality across a portfolio of energy storage projects from construction through operation. John serves on the NFPA 855 Energy Storage System Technical Committee. He holds a Bachelor's in Safety, an MBA, a Six Sigma Black Belt, and international safety and quality certifications.

Carter is a senior project manager and operations leader with an engineering background and a track record of building and delivering commercial solar and energy storage projects. Before co-founding Defend The Zero, he worked on the owner-operator side of distributed energy and earlier led teams that won high-value commercial solar work. 

Carter is a senior project manager and operations leader with an engineering background and a track record of building and delivering commercial solar and energy storage projects. Before co-founding Defend The Zero, he worked on the owner-operator side of distributed energy and earlier led teams that won high-value commercial solar work. Carter is known for getting to the root cause of a problem and for keeping developers, contractors and owners aligned. He is a Cornell University graduate with a BS in Mechanical Engineering
